An entrepreneurial success story at its finest, Banjo Buddies,
Inc., came to Script to Screen to accomplish what had the potential
to be a very difficult task. Armed with a brand-new product they
knew worked, the Banjo Buddies wanted to establish the Banjo Minnow
as the first “genetic response” fishing lure.
Launched during the most competitive era for infomercials advertising
fishing lures, The Banjo Fishing System quickly established itself
as a smash hit, appealing to fishermen everywhere, and selling
several hundred thousand units on television alone.
Hosted by Script to Screen’s own Executive Producer Ken Kerry,
an avid fisherman himself, along with the Banjo Minnow co-inventor
Wayne Hockmeyer; The Banjo Fishing System infomercial presents
a strong-selling message by showing real-life underwater shots
of the Banjo Minnow in action, along with strong testimonials.
The Banjo Minnow has repeatedly found its way to the opening monologue
in CBS’s Late Night with David Letterman.
The infomercial was awarded the 1996 “Best Demonstration
Infomercial” and “Best Infomercial Call To Action” by
the National Infomercial Marketing Association (NIMA), and has
sold over three million units to date.
